Maintenance.

Each garden requires maintenance work. However, if a garden is well designed and well planted it will considerably limit the need for work. For example appropriate choice of plants as well as finding a good place for them may make the grow of weeds difficult, which at the same time will save us a lot of work. Undoubtedly, in order to have a beautiful garden there is the necessity to do certain seasonal work like clipping of bushes or fertilizing of the soil. The latter one, though it may not seem as such, is not easy and requires thorough knowledge. One has to be sure that he will not use too much of one component, for example too much azoth or too much potash as it causes losing of balance between those components in the soil. It is also relevant to know what doze of a fertilizer should be used.

Another important element of nurturing of plants is their clipping, which not only makes them have better shape and stop growing too much but it also improves their health and encourages blooming.

Curing of the plants attacked by pests or protecting the greenery from them are also necessary if one wants to enjoy the beauty of the garden. The sooner the illness is recognized and treated with some specifics the sooner the plant recovers and the other plants are not contaminated.

As far as nurturing of a lawn is concerned, not everybody knows that its reticulation and aeration done in spring plays a very important role in maintaining grass in a good shape. This is done only once a year at the beginning of April. This treatment enables the lawn to clean itself from the already dead blades of grass as well as to air the ground and encourage the growth. The best is to combine this activity with fertilizing of the lawn. I can recommend the yearlong fertilizers of Scott or Schulz brand, which seem to be the best ones available on the market nowadays.

The lawn should also be regularly mown. It is relevant to know, however, when and how it should be done. For example, mowing the grass too short has a bad influence on roots and it encourages the growth of Festuca arundinacea, a plant not welcomed on a lawn.

The exotic plants especially sensitive to frost should be covered in winter. Among them there are such plants as Azalea, Lawenda, Hibiscus, Rosa, Magnollie.
